What got you into wine and what was the first wine that made you go “Wow”?
For me the answer to both these questions started with a Penfolds Bin 389 Shiraz Cabernet (1998). I remember that this was the first time I could taste and smell the vanilla from the oak, the hints of cinnamon, and the richness in flavours coming from a wine. It was the wine that made me go:
Oh, there are layers and complexity to wines, maybe it’s not all fluff!
